An intimate introduction to contemporary circus theatre for very young children. It is the first time for Emilie Weisse, to create a performance for children aged 6 to 18 months. In the Proeftuin of 2turvenhoog, she examines how to align acrobatics and juggling with the perception of this young audience.
For this, she works closely together with the Baby & Child Research Centre in Nijmegen, which provides evidence-based scientific advice about the developments of babies.
About the artist
Be Kind is the directorial debut of Emilie Weisse at TENT house for contemporary circus, in cooperation with 2turvenhoog. Emilie was born in Paris in 1978 and studied at the ballet academy of Rosella Hightower in Cannes. She performed, among others, works by Balanchine, Brumachon and Preljoca. Her partner, Dutch juggler Menno van Dyke, introduced her to the circus world. Together, they created 'Juggling Tango', that merges juggling and dance. For this internationally lauded act, they received the Oscar Carré trophy in 2018, the Dutch oeuvre award for circus arts.
